HUGE collective drugstore haul

IMG_1012

So I’ve been a bit bad recently and splurged on a huge amount of drugstore makeup, some being new purchases and some being repurchases. It kind of started when I went to Superdrug to pick up a couple of new things in one of their offers of 3 for 2, then it just grew and grew until it became this mound of makeup. I will add a link for each product and will keep it short by not writing about every product.

Face products:

IMG_1007

So first I was after a new foundation brush and saw the Real Techniques stand had buy one get one half price so I picked up the Complexion sponge as I’ve heard great things about it being a dupe for the Beauty Blender and because it was on offer I picked up the Blush brush. I then saw the Max Factor creme foundation and I haven’t had a creme foundation for about 3 years so I really want to see the finish and how it feels now! I already have the original Bourjois chocolate bronzer but saw that you can now get a combined bronzer and highlighter so I’m very excited to see what the highlighter’s like.

Real Techniques Complexion sponge £5.99

Real Techniques Blush brush £9.99

Maybelline Dream Satin liquid in Ivory. £7.99

Maybelline Dream Flawless Nude foundation in Ivory £5.99

So with some offers if you spent £15 or more you received a small gift box with a couple of full sized products in. I got a gift box with Bourjois, No7, and Max Factor. As I watch Youtubers like Zoella and Tanya Burr I decided to get products they rave regularly about this being the Rimmel London Kate lippy in 107 as Zoe says it’s her ‘staple colour’ and then Tanya Burr’s fave lipgloss from her own range, I got the shade Picnic in the park.

LOreal Paris Color Riche collection nudes in Julianne’s Nude £6.99

Rimmel Kate Matte lipstick in 107 £5.49

Sleek Matte Me in Birthday suit £4.99

Sleek Gloss Me in Forbidden City £4.99

It’s a crazy bargain dupe of the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette and all of the colors are exactly the same it’s incredible! You can find a post Ft Makeup Revolution Here. I also picked up Maybelline Falsies as I love this mascara it’s voluminous and lengthening truly a star buy! Also my mum (bless her heart) picked up the No7 cream eyeshadow stick for me to try out as ‘she thought I’d like it’ which I really do it’s a quick fix if you’re in a hurry to do you’re makeup and adds a pretty eye colour.

Makeup Revolution blush palette

So as per usual I found myself getting lost in the MR counter in Superdrug just staring greedily at all of their products- their stand is relatively new to my local Superdrug so I have only just been introduced to the incredible brand.

I picked up the Blush palette in ‘Hot Spice’ as it had lighter shades and a few matte blushes which tend to be my favorite. In the palette you get 6 shades two being more highlighters than blushers.

IMG_0985

The casing comes with a huge mirror ( as you all know I love palettes with a big mirror) and clips tightly shut so it feels sturdy and won’t flip open in a bag.

IMG_0986

The shades are softer more muted pinks with nude undertones and are all very wearable. The pan size is larger than I expected so is great value for the palette at only £6!

IMG_0987

The top left pan is a pinky-orange toned colour with a slight shimmer. The second left on the top row is more of a nude baby pink and is matte. The third pan is a light slightly neon pink and is border line matte/ shimmer. The fourth blush on the top row is more of an opal shimmer highlight shade that works well with all of the blushes.

Along the bottom row the first shade is like a warm, slightly shimmery, terracotta shade and comes out more matte than shimmery. The second shade is a matte pinky nude slightly darker than the shade above. The third shade is like a light neon barbie pink and is slightly shimmery. The final shade is a pink highlight shade that is very shimmery and adds a pretty glow.

IMG_0992

From right to left I have swatched the blush shades then at the end I have swatched the two highlight shades and as you can see all of the shades are highly pigmented and were easy to blend and also the formula of the blushers is very creamy and easy to work with, a makeup lovers dream!

So if you’re looking to try new blush shades I highly recommend this palette and at only £6 it’s a steal!

I hope you enjoyed this post I had great fun trying out all of the shades for this post!

Urban Decay Naked mini haul

So I did get this through a while back but have been saving this post for a good write up!

I finally jumped on the Naked pallet wagon! Yes I am now the proud owner of the Naked 2 pallet, but whilst I was on Feel Unique’s website I noticed a sale saving around 10% on UD’s Flushed pallet in ‘Strip’ and Naked illuminating shimmer powder in ‘Aura’. This was just unavoidable, I HAD to have them so they found themselves into my basket…

So here is what I got:

IMG_0468

Naked illuminating shimmer powder:

IMG_0472 IMG_0452

This highlight… OMG it’s so pretty I’ve already uploaded a post on how to highlight (find it here) so I won’t babble too much but it is a soft pink shimmer that instantly brings a healthy, pretty glow to your face. I chose the shade ‘Aura‘ as it is pink toned and these tones work best for neutral to yellow undertones (which is me) as they stand out more and bring contrast and colour to the face.

IMG_0531  IMG_0528

I have swatched it on the left and compared it to Elf’s baked highlighter in ‘Pinktastic‘ – also gorgeous!  It comes off super pigmented and has a soft and creamy texture making application super easy. Even the box the highlight comes in is cute, it’s a soft touch box with two compartments; one for a small brush and the other for the product, Urban Decay have seriously created beauty in a box!

Naked flushed palette:

IMG_0473 IMG_0461

I picked up the shade ‘Strip‘ as in the sale it was between this and ‘Native‘ which is a brighter pink, this would be better for more tanned skin tones, so as I am quite pale I chose ‘Strip’ for it’s softer more natural colour. The packaging shows the actual colour of the palette on the front and I think just looks so pretty and good quality! The actual palette feels weighty and strong so I can live without the fear of it smashing the product from a small bump, also the writing on the top is 3D and for some reason I love this feature, I’m not sure why that’s so amazing but it just adds to the overall greatness of the palette.

IMG_0462 IMG_0464

As you open it you see a huge mirror making this the perfect handbag essential! You can carry this around for the product and the big mirror, it’s a win win! The palette is split into 3 sections: Bronzer, Highlighter and blusher ( left to right) which is a perfect compact way to have three cheek products all together. The bronzer is the biggest area of the palette as it is used to cover more space (bronzing tutorial coming soon) including the cheeks, forehead and jaw line so it makes sense to have slightly more of that. The highlighter has the least area of the palette as it covers the least amount of the face, mainly the upper cheek bone. Then finally the blush, it’s such a pretty muted natural pink with some deep purple undertones perfect for a paler complexion (like mine!) and brushes around the cheeks and slightly up the temples for a natural looking flush. All of the colors are a dream to blend it’s so easy you wouldn’t believe how much time not having to scrub your makeup to blend a product in saves! I love the bronzer the most it’s the perfect tan colour and looks completely natural I just love this palette.

I also purchased the Naked 2 palette which you can find in a separate post HERE.

I hope you enjoyed this post and if you have a favorite product from the Urban Decay Naked collection be sure to share your thoughts in the comments!

NEW Makeup Revolution Pro Fix- oil control fixing spray

Makeup revolution kindly sent me their new pro fix spray to control oil and set makeup in place for the day, so I thought why not try it out and tell you guys what I think?!

IMG_0938

I have pretty extreme skin where makeup lasts about 2 hours on my face then turns into an oily mess, then I powder and powder but then turn out super caked so when I heard about this affordable oil control spray I just had to see if it worked! Strangely my eyelids aren’t as super oily as my face yet I still prime my lids when using shadows to ensure that they wear all day.

If you find that your skin becomes shiny and tacky throughout the day because of over-active oil glands on the face Makeup revolution have created a 100ml Pro Fix spray and claims “High-tech ingredients keep foundation and eye makeup in place with no smudging or fading for that just-applied natural look lasting up to 12 hours.”. For just £5 it’s pretty impressive value and if you’re just trying out setting sprays or want to try this out it’s a great buy.

I took a peek at the ingredients to see if I recognized any products used and found there’s alcohol denat and as alcohol dries out the skin I feared that the spray would increase my skin’s oil. But I was very surprised when I tried the spray out!

It seemed to hold back the oil for a longer period of time than usual, this is such good news I can set my makeup now for around 4 hours before I need to powder which is incredible for my insanely oily skin! This product actually works! This spray is truly a hidden (cheap!) gem for only £5 it actually helps increase the staying power of your makeup on oily skin!

So when I tried it I held it at arms length and applied around 3 sprays all over my face after I finished applying my makeup. It dries quickly in a few seconds and smells great!

IMG_0949

Please excuse my chipped nail polish I was too lazy to take it off aha!

I recommend giving the pro fix oil control fixing spray a go as it has definitely helped me out maybe you find it the same! Ans again a huge thanks to Makeup Revolution for letting me try this amazing product out! Find it HERE.

Also recently I’ve really been getting into Makeup Revolutions products and would definitely like to try some more products other than the eye-shadows, I have heard lots of good things about their lipsticks and lip lava’s and also their blusher, I have the blush palette in Hot Spice which I will swatch and review here soon.

I hope you enjoyed this post and comment your favorite Makeup Revolution product in the comments below.

Naked 2 Palette review and swatches

Naked 2 palette:

I know I’m probably the last blogger to go on about the naked palettes but wow, no one told me how much I was missing out on! I chose this palette as it is mainly neutral colors and I feel most of the colors can be worn daily and then adjusted for a glam night out look so I figured I’d get the most use out of this palette so went ahead and got it! The Naked 2 palette is described as being a taupe-based palette of twelve neutral shades, containing more beige-based shades than the original Naked Palette ( Naked 1).

IMG_0450

Firstly the case is made of metal which instantly satisfies me meaning the shadows are well enclosed in the case’s protection and being made out of metal is pretty strong so will be very durable.

IMG_0871

The brush for the palette is double ended one end made for packing in colour for a bold look and the other end is slightly fluffier for blending out shadows, very handy for on the go or if you don’t own many eye makeup brushes.

IMG_0854

Inside the palette you get a huge mirror so handy for taking out and about for touch ups, also you get a double ended brush for blending and applying the shadows, so if you’re new to makeup but want a luxury palette this provides a great brush for use. The palette contains 12 shades starting at a light highlight to a dark black perfect for smokey eyes. Five of the shades are completely new to the palette and with each purchase UD give you a free gift, In my palette I received a trial of four of the eye primers which are great to set the shadows to last all day long!

The first 12 shades: Foxy, Half Baked, Bootycall, Chopper, Tease, Snakebite, Suspect, Pistol, Verve, YDK, Busted and Blackout. Firstly may I just say what cool names this palette has I mean Bootycall that’s pretty cool right!? So the whole collection of colors is mainly neutral tones consisting of matte, shimmer and micro-glitter shades.

Foxy- A matte pale yellow with beige undertones, good for brow bone and inner corner highlights.

IMG_9261

Half Baked- Coppery brown with a golden shimmer which is also in the Naked 1 palette.

IMG_9260

Bootycall- A peach-tinted white-beige with a frost finish. It’s new for this palette and not in the first Naked palette.

IMG_9259

Chopper- Orange-red toned brown with copper flecks of glitter.

IMG_9258

Tease- A mauve brown matte transition shade.

IMG_9257

Snakebite- Dark-bronze with dirty gold flecks.

IMG_9256

Suspect- Soft champagne bronze with a metallic sheen.

IMG_9255

Pistol- Dirty gray-brown colour with a frosted finish.

IMG_9254

Verve-  A beige-gray with a pink undertones.

IMG_9253

YDK- A warm toned coppery-red toned brown shade.

IMG_9252

Busted- Deep brown with golden undertones.

IMG_9251

Blackout- Intense matte black perfect for any smokey eye.IMG_9250

IMG_9277.JPG

IMG_9280.JPG

Overall a perfect range of colors to create various looks and can be dressed up or dressed down! I hope this helps if you’re unsure on what Naked palette to choose from and gives you an idea on colors. All of the shadows come out so creamy and pigmented and are super easy to blend, also after swatching them all I had to wash my arm a couple of times to get them all off so we know they won’t come off very quickly on our eyes!

I hope you enjoyed this post and if so comment your favorite shade of this palette in the comments below!

Makeup Revolution Iconic 1 eye shadow pallet review.

So Makeup Revolution has hit the ground running into the makeup scene with their incredible pallets and unbelievable  starting price of £1 !! After reading plenty of bloggers rave about these I just had to get in on this bargain buy! Currently in the UK Superdrug stores stock the brand as well as it being available on their website ( http://www.superdrug.com/ ) and Makeup Revolutions own website ( http://www.makeuprevolutionstore.com/index.php/ ).

I decided to pick up the Iconic 1 pallet as it is said to be a dupe for the Urban Decay Naked 1 pallet. After comparison of the two pallets they are very similar and all of the colors are similar in both pallets.

IMG_0658    naked 1

This is the pallet with all the shades (Left) and then a picture of the Urban Decay pallet (Right) http://www.urbandecay.co.uk/naked/naked-colour/naked

All of the shades are similar and if anything you get more product in the Iconic 1 pallet for a lot less than a quarter of the price! The pallet comes with a small sponge applicator which I wasn’t best keen on I’d rather a brush but seriously for £4 I can’t complain! The case is see-through which is great for choosing colors, also the whole case feels quite weighty which assures you it’s a strong material. Also this may sound odd but the case is a tough one to open you have to pop it open which is actually so comforting- you can travel with it without the fear of it opening and shattering all of the shadows, reassuring huh!

IMG_0663 naked

As you can see from above the colour order of the shadows is very similar. The swatches come out so similar to the Urban Decay pallet you could probably achieve the same looks using either pallet but spending a fraction of the other.

IMG_0667 IMG_0676

Here is one swipe from each shadow to give an idea of pigmentation the darker colors are incredibly pigmented and good quality, the shadows are creamy to touch and blend so easily. It’s crazy how good value this pallet is; it’s just like the Naked 1 pallet but for a fraction of the price and is great for beginners to professionals! Definitely worth every penny, so far not a single negative about the pallet, it is such an affordable dupe! I will be going and trying a few more products so keep your eyes on this blog! My new obsession with Makeup Revolution begins…

Hope you like this pallet as much as I do!
